Sanper are a key provider of construction project management solutions within high-security environments.

Celebrating a new partnership with Mitie Custody & Care, Sanper has been scheduled to deliver a range of projects at Heathrow, from minor to major capital works.

From our initial discussions and meetings, it was clear that the Mitie team needed a partner that could provide a single, yet competitively priced solution to resolve issues and improve operations, regardless of the size or value.

The entire structural repairs and refurbishment project was costed at £200,000.

Project brief

This prestigious project aimed to achieve the Irish essence while enhancing its functionality and aesthetic appeal.

Preservation: Maintain the original character of the old wine merchant while introducing modern amenities and design

elements.

Functional Design: Create a space that caters to both a vibrant wine bar and an intimate fine dining experience.

High-End Finishes: Use premium materials and finishes to reflect the upscale nature of the venue.

Project solutions

Improving facilities, recent works at the IDC have included a full revision to the CCTV room, now utilised as a rest room and kitchen facility for centre staff, including:

● Dismantle and strip out the toilet, including the walls

● Make good the ceiling and walls following the removal of the toilet

● Replace the entrance door with an FD60 including frame, vision panel installed by a BRE qualified operative

● Remove and replace the lights with 8no LED panels

● Prepare the walls and repaint with 2no coats of brilliant white emulsion

● Strip out, dispose of and replace the floor with carpet tiles

● Storm black marble effect 22mm worktop

● Supply and install a kitchen which includes the following:

– 5 x gloss wall cupboards and floor cupboards

– Integrated white goods

– Stainless-steel double bowl sink inc taps

Immediately following the completion of this Minor Work project, Sanper was invited to complete a full refurbishment of the shower units, including:

● Complete strip-out, disposal and recycling, including remedial works to the walling and ceiling

● New partition walling to maximise space planning

● Floor-to-ceiling coverings, including commercial-grade vinyl floor tiles

● Installation of 3 x new sinks, 2 x toilets, 3 x wet room shower facilities

● Separate W/C and shower room with full disabled access and facilities

● Remedial works to the radiators to ensure efficiency

● Storm black marble effect finish

● Fire door remediation and compliance check – BRE certified

Project outcome

Having demonstrated our value and approach to project management, we are now discussing our first major capital works project at the IDC in summer 2025. A testament to the service we have delivered so far.

Sanper will continue to support Mitie’s Custody and Care sites at Heathrow, HMP Brixton, HMP YOI Isis and MoD locations, utilising our experienced team of security-cleared operatives covering London and the South East and into the Midlands, to help daily operations run smoothly and improve facilities for inmates and staff alike.
